WomenCount: Leaders in Higher Education 2013 indexes the representation of women as Chairs, Vice Chancellors and members of HE governing bodies. It analyses the results and raises issues for further discussion and study. The report is intended to support the work of those wishing to create more diverse boards within the HE sector as well as those working across sectors on the women’s leadership agenda. It shows that there is currently a pool of very talented and highly capable women which HE institutions and other organisations can tap. This report was launched at University College London in December 2013 and was sponsored by KPMG.
“What the report makes clear is that the higher education sector in general appears to outperform the corporate world in the representation of women at the top. But at the level of individual institution there is a real range, and higher education shares with the corporate world the need to keep this issue high on the agenda.”
Andrew Bush, Director in the Higher Education practice at KPMG
